Young House Love
Yes, its true, the internationally famous DIY bloggers – John and Sherry Petersik of Young House Love are slated to be at the 2013 Tacoma Home & Garden Show! John and Sherry are 30 and their house is 50 and it’s practically old enough to be their mom, but they treat it like it’s their baby. They are not experts, just DIY dorks who like learning as they go and sharing their adventures and misadventures with the world. That’s right, they’re bona fide full time bloggers as well as stay at home parents who are raising a one year old while juggling DIY projects, post-writing, book-writing, and lots of other bloggy goodness. Their appearance at the Home and Garden Show will include talking to exhibitors about products, ideas and what’s new to help with their DIY tasks. They will also be doing a presentation at 1pm on Friday followed by a book signing. You can follow them at www.YoungHouseLove.com.
John and Sherry will be doing a special talk at 1pm on Friday, January 25th. It will be followed by a Q & A session and book signing. Please note, admission into the show costs $10. Save $2 on admission by clicking here and downloading our coupon. If you haven’t yet picked up their New York Times Bestseller, you can purchase it at the show.
We will have seating for over 300 people. Seating is on first come, first serve basis and no seats can be reserved. A show map will be posted that will show the stage location within the show. Their new book will be available for purchase at the event.
In case you have never been to this show, the Tacoma Dome has thousands of parking spots located just across the street from the main entrance into the show. Just like all venues, parking is $10, so carpooling with friends is a great idea. If you don’t mind a short walk, free parking can be found within a few blocks of the dome.
John and Sherry will share some tips and advice on Do-It-Yourself projects that came out of their own home renovations, mistakes and all. Armed with a little bit of know-how and a lot of enthusiasm, they put their creative, common-sense spin on how to make the most of home projects of all sizes.
With millions of unique visitors, the “Young House Love” grew from a little blog created to track the progress of the Petersik’s kitchen remodel for friends and family. After nearly five years of putting daily (and twice-daily) posts out there, it grew from a passion and a hobby into an actual job.
Their widely read blog shares with their readers some of the “home-wisdom” learned along the way. Some of the most popular projects include such making no-sew curtains, painting kitchen cabinets and refinishing furniture. Other quick tips for the allusion of space and drama include painting a brick fireplace, going bold with built-ins and even raising the shower curtain height.
About Young House Love:
John & Sherry Petersik met working together in New York City but quickly ditched the urban jungle for the slower pace, sweeter tea, and cheaper real estate of Richmond, Virginia. They soon found themselves purchasing a fixer upper in the suburbs, getting married in the backyard, and starting a blog about their DIY home renovations. That blog, Young House Love, has since become both of their full time jobs and has earned them international recognition, including features on HGTV, CNN, and The Nate Berkus Show. They’re now transforming their second home, raising their one-year-old daughter Clara, and keeping their chihuahua Hamburger out of trouble – all while writing their first book, which was released this past fall.
