Marty Wingate

Marty Wingate is a Seattle-based writer and speaker about gardens and travel. Her new book is Landscaping for Privacy (Timber Press).

Marty’s articles appear in a variety of publications, including Fine Gardening, American Gardener, Country Gardens, and Gardening How-to. She is a weekly guest on the Greendays segment of “Weekday” on KUOW (94.9 FM), Seattle’s NPR station. Marty and her colleagues on Greendays won a 2010 Silver Trowel award from the Garden Writers Association for on-air talent.

Marty has a master’s degree in urban horticulture from the University of Washington, and is active in the Arboretum Foundation, the Northwest Horticultural Society, the Royal Horticultural Society, and the Garden Writers Association.
